Saturday Sail - 14th May

UPDATE: Today's (Saturday 13th May) cruise was tremendous! In the above image you can see the exact course of Happy Return  around Mount's Bay. This plot is generated from our onboard AIS system. You can follow Happy Return whenever and wherever she sails. See earlier post for details.

New members are encouraged to take this great leap in to the unknown.  The forecast is fair. Muster is at the very civilised time of 10:30.  An opportunity to sharpen your sailing skills after the winter lay up.  So contact the skipper, John vd H (phone number is on the paper sailing program) to secure your place.  Happy Return has escaped from the confines of the wet dock and is now berthed on her usual summer residence on the North arm.

ETA back in Penzance is 14:30.

 See you on board!

 All the Best,

Dave / John.

Happy Return is now on AIS

Hi Guys,

Now we finally got 95% of the electrics completed, especially the New AIS and got it talking to the Standard Horizon chart plotter and also I have registered with Marine Traffic so for those who like to follow HR can go to this site and follow her progress or see where she is.

Here is the link to Marine Traffic:  http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ (Search "Happy Return" in the search box in the top left hand corner) as you will now see we have a photo for HR.  (It takes up to 48 hours for any photos to be verified before seen on the web site).  I have also added some other details like weight, draught etc.  This has not yet been uploaded.

If you want to log into the web site, you may need to register - it is free.

It was great to test the AIS on last night’s sail.  Contacted Falmouth CG, they could see us OK and replied back with our speed & course.  Also noticed a CPA (Closest Point of Approach) alarm from Scillonian 111,             if we maintained our course & speed and same for Scillonian 111 we would be within 0.3Nm within 10 minutes.

All the best - David Keast - 7th May

Friday 6th May afternoon/evening sail - around the Bay

The forecast is good and we still have some places on Happy Return this Friday at 16:30. So time to get your sailing started for the year, we muster at 16:30 on the boat and depart at 17:00 finishing at about 20:00.

If you areinterested then text or call Mark - all are welcome at any level. If you are new to Lugger sailing this is a fine time to get started, we have a whole season ahead of us so lets go.

See you soon

Mark
